Adding a touch of history and heritage to Upwaltham Barns are the buildings themselves, attractive barns that have been lovingly restored externally to their original purpose. The slate tiles, original brickwork and timber frames combine together to create a traditional barn exterior which is aesthetically appealing. Internally the barns have also been refurbished, offering a more contemporary feel yet retaining some of period the features, including exposed brick walls and authentic wooden beams. East Barn, with its floor to ceiling windows allowing natural light flood the building and offering breathtaking views of the rolling countryside, is typically used for the ceremony due to the pretty backdrop it provides. The Wedding Breakfast is served in South Barn, a rustic building that is comfortable and cosy, yet spacious enough to house a steelband and DJ in the evening.

The barns are set around a courtyard, within which sits the secluded Moroccan Snug. Vibrant and exotic, this inviting seating area is filled with chunky wooden furniture that has been dressed with cushions and throws in a rainbow of rich colours. A chill out area for guests, a place to enjoy a drink during the day and night, the Moroccan Snug gives Upwaltham Barns the fun factor.

Jasmine Cottage is a quintessential English cottage. Its shabby chic décor, distinctive pieces of antique furniture, freestanding roll top bath and ‘his and her’ hand basins work well together to create a romantic ambiance and provide a private place for the bride to get ready. With French windows that open up to a Juliet balcony overlooking the courtyard, the bride can even catch a glimpse of guests arriving. We’re writing to say a gigantic thank you for letting us hire your beautiful venue for our wedding day. As you know, I was very emotional when I got to the barns on the day, mainly because it looked and was exactly what I’d dreamt it would. The beauty of the barns took my breath away; I’ll never forget that feeling. Our whole experience of Upwaltham Barns was really outstanding from start to finish, you treated us like friends when we popped by to see the barns, and on the day, Tim was on hand with a lace hankie and a big hug. We will really miss you and the barns, and will never be able to thank you enough, you helped make our dreams come true and for that we are eternally grateful. With all our love,

Gemma & James
